Design and Features

Every new computer incorporates the latest technological upgrades for faster and friendlier user experience. The Anycubic Mega-S printer embraces that “upgrade philosophy” with this latest incarnation of a printer that was already extremely popular.

As with the previous model, the ANYCUBIC Mega-S 3D Printer utilizes the same sturdy metal frame design. This provides the kind of consistent printing stability that is a herald for these machines.

The large base also offers the promise of printing a wide array of objects. That base still features a full-color touchscreen command pad. If you are familiar with the previous Anycubic Mega S 3D Printer model, then you’ll recognize the Anycubic Ultrabase heated bed that is part of this model. There is no need to improve on something that works.

This Ultrabase design provides for the first layer of your printed item to stick to that bed on its own. There is no need to mess around with glue, tape or hairspray to get your prints to “standstill.” When the printing cycle is finished and the cooling is complete, you’ll be able to easily detach the item from the bed without a lot of strain or scraping. It will be a smooth bottom finish every time.

One of the new features that you might not notice from looking at the printer is the ability for it to be more compatible with a wider range of flexible filaments. You will be able to utilize TPU, PETG, ABS, and PLA without a challenge. This next-generation 3D printer is also a perfect desktop device weighing in at only 24 lbs. and standing just 17.83 inches tall and 16.14 inches wide. You won’t need to take up a lot of room to put this printer into operation.

Printing

One of the model upgrades that has users buzzing is the newly designed extruder. An added extrude lever makes loading much simpler than the previous version of this printer. That will make transitioning from one print cycle to the next an easy task to accomplish.

There are also improved power recovery loss and filament run-out sensors. Why does that matter? Suppose there is a power outage or a kicked-out cable during your next print cycle. With the power outage feature, the ANYCUBIC Mega-S 3D Printer can pick up right where you left off to complete the print. This allows you to set up a print and then go about your business without having to “babysit” the device.

As for the filament run-out sensor, it is now positioned right behind the filament spool. Being securely attached to the printer frame makes is less precarious and more practical. That is actually how you can describe this entire device.

On one side of the printer, you’ll notice another new design element. That is where you’ll find a suspended spool holder. The location of the filament sensor has also been moved as a way to improve your user experience.

When it comes to printing results, the resolution for this printer is down to an impressive 50 microns. That will turn out a high-quality print with every use.

Packing and Assembly

According to Anycubic, you could just be 8 screws and three connected wires away from engaging in your first print. The fact that the printer is shipped semi-assembled is a major advantage for any of the first-time 3D printer users who might not be up to speed on all the technical specifications required for assembling a device like this. This is as close to “plug and go” as you might find in a 3D printer.
