Design & Features

Not to be confused with the No products found. or the Shuffle XL, the standard Phrozen Shuffle is a 3D resin printer designed with a modern appeal and a sturdy frame. The black metal frame holds a handle in the front to lift a panel for access to the build area. The build area can be viewed through the ultraviolet red cover, but the build’s progress can be accessed via the printer’s settings.

The 5-inch IPS high-resolution touch panel is equipped with Phrozen OS so design files can be printed directly from the printer without a connection to a computer. Files can be loaded onto the Phrozen resin 3D printer through the included USB stick, over a Wi-Fi network, or over a hard internet connection via ethernet.

The touchscreen isn’t the only high-resolution feature. The 47 µm XY resolution provides finely detailed builds, even for the smaller design files like those used to make jewelry. The precision of the XY coupled with the stability of the –axis helps achieve one successful build after another.

The Z-axis is supported by a twin linear rail to minimize vibrations as the build plate rises up from the resin vat. Not only is this printer equipped with the twin linear rail, but a ball screw and ball bearing are also used to provide better mobility to minimize the impact of the printing process. When the print bed rises, each layer of the build is cured by an enhanced light source. Phrozen’s ParaLED Matrix 2.0 UV LED panel cures each layer with 90% optical uniformity. The trajectory of the lens’ focus speeds up the curing time, and increases build speed by curing a larger area per layer. It cures faster than other 3D resin printer models.

The lighting matrix works so well because of the 5.5-inch 2K LCD masking screen that helps focus the light on the fine details of the sliced file. The masking screen is larger than the average resin printer which allows more light to come through and again, increases the build speed. The resulting prints are often much better than those successfully printed with FDM 3D printers.

Printing

The Phrozen UV LCD resin printer’s print bed must be calibrated prior to printing any build successfully. This only takes a few minutes and instructions for doing so can be found in the operation guide, and is assisted through the menu settings. Files can be sliced with the proprietary PZslicer, MeshMixer, or ChiTuBox, and loaded onto the printer. The USB port, ethernet jack, and power cable are all located in the back of the machine.

Non-proprietary LCD resins can be used in the printer and multiple files can be sliced simultaneously because the entire print bed can be hit by the ParaLED matrix. Supports can be added to ensure overhangs are cured properly and the resulting builds are finished without too much post-processing needed if any at all.

There’s a dual-fan cooling system to vent the No products found. while printing that also releases excess heat. The print quality is insanely precise and accurate without any stringing or imperfections. In some cases, we recommend removing the supports prior to the build fully curing to avoid snapping off chunks of the finished print.

Phrozen makes a quiet printer with this Shuffle series, making it ideal for studios, labs, and just about any workspace. There’s also a Phrozen branded lid to cover the resin vat so draining the leftover resin after a print can wait and doesn’t have to be done immediately.

Make sure to practice safety precautions when using photocuring resin by wearing gloves throughout the process. It’s best to have a few extra pairs on hand to handle the build once it’s completed printing in the Shuffle. Make the post-process easier by setting up a station to clean off the builds.

Packing & Assembly

Right out of the box, the No products found. is ready to plug in and power on. It’s packed extremely well with foam inserts to minimize the chance of damage during shipping. It’s completely assembled and only requires users to calibrate the print bed before getting started.

Phrozen Customer Support

The No products found. resin printer is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty for one year and doesn’t include the consumables. Buyers should know Phrozen only accepts returns within a short time frame from the date it’s received. Contact the retailer directly for Shuffle specific return and exchange policies.

If you’re looking to troubleshoot some issues, there are videos available on Phrozen’s website that show users how to change the LCD masking screen, the FE film, and even how to calibrate the Z-axis. Users can find more helpful information on social media sites and online forums that cover a wide range of topics when using the Phrozen resin 3D printer.

Seeing that a printed manual isn’t included in the packaging, it’s good to know that there’s one on the included flash drive and available for download on the website, along with the company’s slicer, PZSlice and support software for MeshMixer. There are also tabs that take the users directly to the company’s Facebook page where technical support can be messaged directly or questions can be posted to the online community of Phrozen users.

Phrozen Shuffle Pros & Cons

No products found.
No products found.

Pros

  • Builds are of exceptional print quality with amazing details
  • ParaLED Matrix light source cures larger areas per layer which ramps up the build speed
  • The larger build area of 4.72 in x 2.67 in x 7.87 in, is larger than the average 3D resin printer
  • The dual-fan cooling system prevents the printer from overheating and accelerates the build’s curing time
  • Minimal post-processing is needed, if any at all, so no need for sanding, just cure until the surface isn’t tacky to the touch
  • It’s quiet, sturdy, and sleek design make it ideal for any workspace
  • There’s a lot of support available from Phrozen and the Phrozen user community

Cons

  • There isn’t any sample resin or spare FEP films included in the packaging so it’s not ready to go right out of the box
  • The print bed must be calibrated manually prior to printing
  • All of the connectivity access points are inconveniently located on the back of the machine
  • The price point is higher than comparable 3D resin printers

Verdict

To recap this No products found. review,  the printer is built with stability in mind. The dual linear rail, ball screw, and ball bearing Z-axis structure minimize vibrations during the print process to ensure a successful build. The proprietary ParaLED light matrix has lenses focusing on at least 90% of the print bed which allows users to print multiple files at the same time as a faster build speed closer to 30 mm per hour.

The touchscreen display is easy to use and lets users monitor the build progress of their project. There are multiple connectivity options from USB to ethernet, but all of the access points are on the back of the printer. Third-party resins can be used as well as non-proprietary software like ChiTuBox and MeshMixer to slice design files.

The drawbacks remain that sample resin isn’t included, which seems to be the industry standard, but that’s changing. When it comes to the Shuffle, unfortunately, the features and function don’t justify the price. The 3D resin printer market is far too competitive for a higher-priced printer that gives similar results to comparable models at a cheaper price. Sure the build area is bigger than most resin printers, but does the extra room truly justify the extra dollars? If you’re looking for an alternative cost wise then recommend the ELEGOO Mars UV Photocuring LCD 3D Printer
